A True Alternative to Classified Bordeaux:

Over the past two decades, a number of California Cult Cabernets and Blends have provided for some interesting “big wine” drinking. On occasion, wines from Australia have done the same. None of these wines, however, have really recreated a Classified Bordeaux experience. Enter Ferenc Takler’s Regnum 2003 - a complex blend of 37.5% Cabernet Franc, 37.5% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Kekfrankos (yes, we know the last one is not a Bordeaux varietal...)

Ferenc Takler was voted “Winemaker of the Year” in 2004 in Hungary. Saveur Magazine was recently so taken with his wines that they published an eight page article proclaiming his unrivaled greatness in Central Europe! To date, Takler’s masterpiece had been the 2003 Cabernet Franc, which sold out within weeks of its release at $90 per bottle. Aged in 65% new oak for 21 months, the 2003 Regnum is arguably another step up. The very best lots of Takler’s Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Kekfrankos and Merlot have been chosen for this wine.. NO other wine offers such sheer, hedonistic pleasure while at the same time providing such layered, measured complexity normally only found in Super Second or First Growth Bordeaux. Note that only 100 of the 700 cases produced were imported. Don’t wait to experience this tour de force performance in winemaking! Takler Regnum Proprietor's Reserve is a deep, full-bodied red with tremendous fruit. Flavors of berries and cherries co-mingle with chocolate and coffee perfectly integrated with oak. Luscious in the mouth, with a long finish that culminates in an explosion of flavors on the palate.
