Douro, Portugal

A spectacular aromatic white from a port house with a rich history dating back to 1918. Wine Magazine’s “Fortified Wine Maker of the Year 2001” has produced an impressively layered wine here. Decanter, Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast all agree that Pocas is an ultra-high quality producer, as evidenced by numerous **** Decanter, 90 & 91 pt Spectator and Wine Enthusiast scores for many of their wines of the last few vintages.

A blend of 5 native varietals, it is made by one of the few remaining independent Portuguese-owned family wineries in the region around Oporto, famous for Port. Poças was founded in 1918 by Manoel Domingues Poças Junior.

Pocas Douro Reserva White is a light-medium-bodied blend of Malvasia Fina, Codega, Rabigato, Viosinho, and Moscatel. Crisp and clean with a color of soft yellow-gold, it has an aromatic nose of citrus, apples, salt water taffy and floral notes. Elegant with a creamy texture, this white offers flavors of apple, lemon, hazelnut and floral notes, with no oak. Well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 5-6 years, its finish is crisp, pleasant and refreshing.
