Just look at the impressive list of neighbors that surround Oakville Ranch Vineyards these days! Location and extremely skilled winemaking here come together to produce a $100++ quality Cabernet with a substantially more reasonable price tag.

Oakville Ranch Vineyards was founded in 1989 by Robert and Mary Miner. The 90-acre estate vineyard lies between 1000 and 1400 feet above the Silverado Trail on the eastern hill side of Napa Valley on red, rocky volcanic soils in the Oakville appellation. Closest neighbors are Dalla Valle, Vine Cliff, Joseph Phelps "Backus" and Showket. Winemaker Ashley Heisey is a veteran with Oakville appellation Cabernets, having made wines at Far Niente and Opus One. Very limited production.

Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is dark ruby red in color with a gorgeous nose of blackberry, cassis, dried herbs, vanilla, and exotic spices. This big single-vineyard red is full-bodied, soft and mellow, with velvety tannins and rich flavors of blackberry, black currant, vanilla and spice. It was aged for 19 months in French oak barrels for added complexity. Beautifully balanced to enjoy now, it will gain with cellaring over the next decade. The finish is long, rich and enticing.
