A few years back, Robert Parker wrote about the 1999 Gruaud Larose: An exotic perfume of tapenade, new saddle leather, damp earth, black currants, cherries, and smoke jumps from the glass of this impressive, powerful 1999. The wine is medium-bodied with moderate tannin. This dark plum/ruby-colored St.-Julien requires another 2-3 years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015.

Today, we are proud to offer the second wine of Gruaud Larose, Chevalier de Gruaud, from the very good 1999 vintage at the very peak of drinkability. This deep ruby colored wine exhibits aromas of sweet, blackcurrant fruits. Elegant, medium full bodied wine that pairs exceptionally well with venison, roasted beef and duck.
