Admittedly, we don't get excited about Pinot Grigio very often, generally trying to steer you towards wines that offer more "character," if you will. However, as with anything else in life, there are certainly exceptions: Attems Pinot Grigio 2008 is one such wine.

The 2007 had already caught our fancy, ultimately garnering 90 points from Wine Spectator and the #70 slot on the "TOP 100" list, with a review that called it "full-bodied ...with lots of character, from peach tart to lemon seed to mineral. Crisp and lively."

The 2008 in our mind kicks things up another notch, offering up copious amounts of pineapple pie, vanilla cream and honey notes braced by mineral flavors, all once again on a very substantial frame. Wine Spectator agrees, awarding the wine a virtually unheard of (for Pinot Grigio) 91 POINTS in the January 20th Insider issue. Hurry, as availability is quite limited!
