Ascheri has always impressed us with his otherwordly single-vineyard Barolos that frequently gather 3 Glasses, the highest possibly rating, from Gambero Rosso, Italy's equivalent of the Wine Spectator.

2006 Ascheri Arneis is no less impressive. Very pale gold color, this ultra attractive alternative to Pinot Grigio shows a fairly intense bundle of apple, honeydew, wildflower and flinty notes. In the mouth the wine shows good weight with very lively flavors of white-fleshed fruits and spice. On the long finish, a touch of pink grapefruit and almond tones and nicely intermingled with hints of anise.
