We've frequently raved about Apollonio's "entry level" wine, their Salice Salentino, and you've shared our enthusiasm. Apollonio's higher-end release, the 2000 Divoto Copertino Riserva, will have us singing even more praise!

Apollonio Divoto Copertino Rosso Riserva 2000 exhibits an amazingly complex nose right out of the gate, full of liquorice, tar, raisins and purple fruit, which over times evolves into crushed black pepper and other spices.

Dense, ripe & very layered, 2000 Apollonio Divoto Copertino Riserva possesses smooth but bountiful tannins, allowing it to be enjoyed now and over the next 8-10 years.

This wine is a blend of 70% Negroamaro and 30% Montepulciano harvested by hand before going into the winery where, after fermentation, it spends two years in French barrels and one year in bottle before being released. In short, 2000 Apollonio Copertino Riserva is a compelling argument to spend approximately half on a high-end Italian wine by looking south, rather than to traditionally more "worthy" appellations in the north.
