Jumilla, Spain

The 2006 Bodegas El Nido Clio is a blend of 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. With aromas of spice box, violet, blueberries and blackberries, this wine races elegantly onto the palate with dark fruits, espresso and hints of cracked pepper and supple tannins on the long concentrated finish. This wine is great for cellaring.

This is a joint project between the Gil family, who has done much to put Jumilla on the map with the wines from Finca Luzonand, and famed Barossa winemaker, Chris Ringland. The 2002 debut release was a spectacular effort that established new benchmarks for the extraordinary quality wines produced. The fruit is harvested by hand in small baskets, picked very ripe, given a severe triage, and fermented in open top, three to four ton vats. Previous vintages have never scored lower than 93pts and average 96pts. Enjoy!
