Looking for another summer red that's fuller-bodied than Beaujolais, not as spicy as Red Zinfandel but not as tannic as your typical Cabernet? Enter 2005 Catamayor Tannat, a 100% Tannat from the San Jose region of Uruguay. Bodegas Castillo Viejo was founded in 1927 by Don Santos Etcheverry and remains a family-run winery of 150 hectares today. Enjoy!

Catamayor Tannat is deep saturated purple in color, with a ripe nose of blueberries, cassis and plum. Medium-bodied, it possesses surprisingly creamy tannins for a varietal more known for its brawniness than finesse. Juicy and fruit-driven, Catamayor Tannat is the perfect accompaniment to your summer outdoor entertaining. The finish is long, with just a touch of vanilla and mocha to the dark fruit undertones. Ready to enjoy young, Catamayor Tannat will drink well over the next 4-5 years.
